• How does geo-based pricing work?

When you reach the homepage, I detect your IP address and send it to the ipStack.com API to get your location (long and lat). Then I send those coordinates to the Numbeo.com API to get the cost of living in your area. Specifically, I look at the price of a restaurant meal in your city. That exact price becomes the price you pay here. I always wanted to price this course the same as a dinner, but since my students are all over the world, I have to jump through these hoops to make it possible.

  • Will I receive a certificate when I complete the course?

Yes, we issue certificates of completion to every student.

  • Can I receive enrollment for free?

No, I don't offer free enrollment right now. But check back frequently. I do occasionally allow people to "pay" for the class by sending a tweet or posting a blog post about the class.

  • What are the prerequisites for this course?

You should be comfortable with basic computer-science and web-programming ideas (like memory, IP addresses, servers, etc) before you attempt this course. To see if you're ready, click "prerequisites" in the menu at the bottom of this page and take the free quiz.
